🤝 About us

Connecting Hispanic businesses with the people who need them.

A community project with a clear mission: that language should never be a barrier to accessing everyday services in Austin.

Our mission

Every Hispanic family in Austin should know where to find what they need — with no language barrier.

Austin has nearly 320,000 Spanish speakers, and many rely on Spanish to make decisions that matter: healthcare, education, paperwork, food, recreation. Conexión ATX is a project that seeks to address that reality with respect.

The problem and our proposal

The problem

Many Hispanic people in Austin look for businesses where they can communicate in Spanish, but that information is scattered across Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, personal recommendations and local groups. There's no single trustworthy bilingual place to find it.

Our proposal

Conexión ATX organizes Hispanic businesses and businesses that serve in Spanish into a simple, bilingual, area-focused platform. Today it's a functional prototype; the next phase is validating it with a partner organization and launching a pilot with verified businesses.

What "verified" means

Transparency about how we build the directory

When a business appears with the "✓ Verified" tag, it means its basic data (name, address, phone) matches at least two independent public sources at the time of verification: official website, Google Maps, Yelp and/or info shared by the owner.

"Verified" does not mean we certify service quality, current licenses, or that there's any commercial relationship between Conexión ATX and the business. For professional services (medical, legal, financial) we always recommend verifying credentials directly with the provider.

Community AI assistant, in your language

📬 Proposal for GAHCC

A complementary tool, not a parallel directory

This page is our concrete proposal for the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC). Conexión ATX is not trying to replace the work you already do — on the contrary: we want to be a digital tool that supports your mission of visibility, economic development, and direct connection with the community.

If you're open to exploring a collaboration, below we detail what the project would bring to the chamber, its members and the community — and what we'd need from you to launch a pilot together.

How it fits GAHCC's pillars

Designed to add to the chamber's three areas of focus

"A trusted advocate and resource for the Hispanic business community — powered by dedicated leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals working to strengthen Austin's vibrant economy." — GAHCC's mission (gahcc.org). Conexión ATX wants to be a digital tool in service of that mission.
📣
Advocacy & Economic Development
The directory generates aggregate data that doesn't exist today: what Hispanic families search for, which areas lack services, which categories are growing. That input would go to the chamber as evidence for its advocacy and economic development work.
📈
Business Development & Education
A free digital storefront and a simple panel for businesses that today rely only on Facebook or WhatsApp — a first step toward digitization. It complements the chamber's member directory: yours strengthens the business network; ours brings those businesses to the Spanish-speaking consumer.
🎉
Culture
A 100% bilingual platform that highlights the Hispanic character of every business — origin, traditions, Spanish-language service. The same spirit of celebration as initiatives like Celebrando, brought to the digital everyday.

What we'd ask of GAHCC

Four areas where your support would make the difference for launching the pilot

📊
Data validation
Review the current business list and, in case of alliance, integrate member businesses with verified data.
⚖️
Legal guidance
Guidance on project structure, terms, data policy and applicable compliance.
🤝
Community endorsement
Institutional backing to open doors with businesses and lend credibility to the project before the user community.
📞
Connections
Introductions to 5–10 member businesses that could anchor the pilot.

What the project would bring

Three audiences that complement each other

🏘️

For the Hispanic community

  • Service in Spanish with no language barrier — critical in services like healthcare, legal, schools, paperwork.
  • Native bilingual, same content in ES and EN — not machine translation.
  • Interactive map with your location: find what's closest without installing an app.
  • Organized info: by category, area and language — no jumping between Google, Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
  • Free and private: no required login, no ad tracking, no paywalls.
  • Real promotions posted by the businesses themselves.
🤝

For GAHCC

Proposal
  • Modern public showcase for GAHCC member businesses — a mobile-first, bilingual UI built for the end consumer. It complements the chamber's member directory, which strengthens the B2B network; this one exposes members to families searching in Spanish.
  • Discovery support: the directory detects Hispanic businesses that aren't GAHCC members yet. With the chamber's blessing, we'd connect them as prospects.
  • Visible attribution: GAHCC members could receive a "GAHCC Member" badge on their listing — reinforcing the value of joining for new businesses.
  • Aggregate usage data: monthly report with most common searches, underserved areas and categories in demand — useful input for the chamber's economic development initiatives.
  • Co-branding: in case of an alliance, mutual visibility on home, listings and project communications.
  • 🤖 Bilingual AI assistant (in development): GAHCC would be among the first Hispanic chambers in the country to offer a conversational chat with up-to-date data to its community.
  • Zero operating cost for the chamber: the project team takes on development, hosting, and maintenance. GAHCC would contribute legitimacy and connections.
🏪

For listed businesses

  • Free visibility: appearing in the directory costs nothing.
  • Relevant traffic: users already looking for Spanish-speaking service — high intent to contact.
  • "Verified" badge: credibility with new customers (criteria public in Terms).
  • Control over the listing: update info, add photos, create promotions — always free.
  • Real promotions on the home page: deals they post appear in the directory, on the map, and in the AI assistant.
  • Simple metrics: visits and clicks on their listing, without a complicated dashboard.
The virtuous circle we propose

More community → more traffic → more reasons to join GAHCC

If a Hispanic family finds service in their language, they come back and recommend. That would bring traffic to the business. If the business sees value in appearing, they'd have a concrete reason to join GAHCC. And the chamber would gain strength to advocate for the community. That's why we believe it only works if all three win.
